if you gave the maus modern armour and a modern engine it would be rather strong when it comes to taking hits but it would be way heavier which would mean you would need to either increase the width of the tracks or cut down the armour thickness(ps: the maus had 13 inches of armour and if it had 13 inches of modern armour it would be able to stop most shells

in real life. a modern maus would be the biggest waste of money. even if you upgrade the engine to modern. the tank is SOOOO heavy that it would still be pretty slow. and yet a sabot can go straight through that armor. so its got bad speed, Big tall profile, unreliable armor and bad gun depression. this would be the worst MBT ever. the leopard MBT's wer designed to handle its weight (60 tons) so this tank isnt effiencent AT. AlL.

LOL, if you copy paste the AP launcher in a position that it hits the commander's vision port, it kills the classic Maus. WoT was right, cupolas DO cause damage! :D
