Photon Pipe Issue

    Hello! Me again!

    So after some help with electrolysis I've moved on to getting a photon beam.

    My method for this is to have a chamber with ISOZ with some stor connecting to a pipe. Here is the save -

    Anyways, the issue is that the photons don't exit the pipe very quickly, leading to a very sparse beam and a lot of pressure build up. It only takes a few seconds before the pipe melts aswell!

    I've tried different things, but nothing works. An alternative method would be to use pulses of photons, but I'd rather not.

    Thank you for the help!

    (Using portals helps condense the beams, but they're still too slow and sparse)

    As clever as the STOR design on this pipe for catching PHOT is, the crux of the issue is that the other end of the pipe doesn't conserve the direction the photons were originally traveling in whatsoever, so when they are recreated on the other end of the pipe, they pick a random cardinal direction and die 1/8th of the time.

    Like here for example, portals actually -do- conserve direction and velocity, but this means all of your incoming photons need to be going in the desired output direction to begin with, which makes this impossible from both directions.

    It's remotely possible you could use GLAS and total internal reflection to get photons out, but you'd hardly get a 'beam';

    Your best bet really would be to make a capsule made of liquid crystal or breakable metal, and fill it with GLOW, and feed photons through it in a straight line.

    ... Or something ridiculous like this.

     Nice to note a moderator helping out without being asked to do so.

     Is there not a console command that dictates the direction a particle, or bundle of particles, may go? Like how Neutron 'Meteors' are made?

    There are commands for  (!set vx phot [value] and !set vy phot [value] (x velocity and y velocity, respectively)), but those only apply to existing particles, not to newly created ones

     That'd be an interesting feedback suggestion.

    Thank you for all the feedback, but I'm not looking to create straight-going photons. If it helps, my overall project is a clone-less proton gun. I think I have another idea, so I'll post an update later! Again, thank you, some of these suggestions might be useful in the future!

    EDIT: My issue has been resolved. I ended up scrapping the full pipe system! Here is the final result, feel free to use it.

    Just a question, does anyone know how to negate pressure changes by particles movement? I'm having issues with ISOZ becoming photons under negative pressure.
