Having been around a while, I'd say it's likely that you're getting bored. The nostalgic part of my brain does say "it used to be better", but honestly... That's not the case.
If you wanna stick around, I'd suggest trying out some mods if you haven't, or trying to build things you haven't built before (such as electronics/machines, art, whatever else)
I'd suggest going in jacobs mod and checking out the lua mods... there are plenty of fun elements there!
Also if the 'online' list there doesn't cut it, you can look at the forums and find a good lua pasted in github or dropbox or something. Or you can learn a thing or two about coding up elements in lua...
Firstly, the last post on this thread was in May.. you generally shouldn't post on threads this old. Second, sure, lots of the old "best players" are gone, but now we have new great players. Don't act like nothing interesting happens on here anymore, it does, and if you can't see it, then you just aren't looking hard enough.
My personal hypothesis is that in the beginning TPT is fun because there's so much to explore and learn. As you eventually learn most of the easy stuff, you get to the more difficult things (for me, at least) such as micro-electronics and effective us of deco. Then comes things like property editing etc, and eventually you specialise in a certain 'field' such as weaponry or electronics or art. But eventually there comes a time when you know most things about the game and its mechanics, or when the next major step you need to make amazing creations is too hard to learn (e.g. I can't get my head around subframes, no matter how many saves try and explain them), and that's when you slowly stop playing.
Its always nice to come on and see what other people are making every now and again, though.
