Bigger sandbox size option?

an idea i had while playing with artwork is the idea of making the size of the envoriment bigger.

what i mean is the current size of the sandbox is 227104 particles (Not stacked) what if you could customize the dimensions of the square that particles can fit in? i think if this was hypothericly (HUGE HYPOTHETICAL) added that there would be scroll bars on either side of the sandbox if it got too big for the screen. i know there isnt a chance this wil even be considered to be added since im guessing this would be a coding nightmare, but it could get your mind flowing and new ideas could come around

This isn't possible and is not going to happen. The simulation has to be a fixed size and can't be resized. If we wanted a larger size we would have to distribute it as another executable. Or do some other stuff I don't really want to do. The saves wouldn't be compatible between versions.

Some people can only just barely handle the size now (235008 particles), the larger we make it would double or triple very quickly, causing double or triple the lag.

Let me give my half a cent worth:

Instead of a simple, bigger, screen, why not add a "layer" option. All saves created after this update would have a "Layer" tag (this defaults to "1" on older saves). You can configure how many layers you load maximum (maybe defaulting to about 3), and they would literally be seperate screens. What do you think?
