Is Lua hard to learn?

    I'm only eleven and have a little background knowledge on scripting from Python and objective c but I want to learn Lua, approximately how long would it take?

    Probably not very long. I don't even know Lua, but I've still been making some scripts (https://powdertoy.co.uk/Discussions/Thread/View.html?Thread=16210, for example) in Lua. My background knowledge was just programming a graphing calculator, so if you actually know real programming languages, you should be just about set. Have fun scripting! :)

    I dont know how long it would take it depends on how fast you learn new languages.

    I know a few different programing languages and decided to learn lua because it was the language of computercraft (a minecraft mod with computers and robots)I found it was fairly easy to learn and I managed to get quite far in a short(ish) amount of time. with previous knowlage in some languages you should be able to learn it fairly well.

    Lua is actually very very simple.

    http://www.lua.org/pil/contents.html to get started in Lua (it's gonna go into heavy stuff which will prove itself useful!) and...
    http://www.lua.org/manual/5.1/ to keep you company as you read through, to see how it works (also to draw some parallels from Python)

    Lua is fairly simple, and you can build onto it. I'm pretty good with lua, and I have made a ton of programs with it, its great!

     I agree, but we could have chosen a better language. (Not that I know any other languages, I'm still practicing by mutilating other peoples' scripts)
