    Another technical solution is simply to put different powders, mix them together with mix tool, then use the console to change each individual type of powder into a solid using this command: !set type [powder 4 letter abbreviation] [solid 4 letter abbreviation]

    You can then use the copy tool and use it to produce larger blocks of the mixed solid. Keep in mind no other particles can be in the sim, and there must be less then 5 pixels (Else it'll turn into Bhol) This technique in the tpt community is known as "Layering"

    Or just put a single pixel of each material (Or a different mixture) and then open the console and type "!set x all 300" and "!set y all 150". Assuming you have less then 5 pixels, You'll get a mixed solid, where each material is "undernethe" the one above it (Ctrl box right-click to uncover one layer at a time).

    The reason coal and bcol ignite after being cured is because coal and bcol need to have their life set to 110 and tmp to 50 in order to not burn.
