    You can just do !set tmp2 virs [elementName]

    typing in the desired element as the tmp2 also works.

    146 doesn't work because element 146 used to be solid wind, which was removed.

    For example, PHOT uses it ctype to set what color it is, and when it is infected by virus, the ctype gets set to 0, which makes the PHOT black.
