Have you ever worked 3 hours on a city and wanted to save it

But a error message appeared which is blue and you cannot remove the bug and you have restart the game and waste 3 more hours!

    No. this shouldn't happen.

removing the crash/error/bug message is a super idea.

    this will prevent wasting time.

even on 2011 tpt, you could play 6 hours straight and no crashes.

on 2018 tpt, a bug message appears after 20 minutes playing only.

please remove it this annoys anyone if a crash message appears.

Ah i see, the solution to all bugs is to just prevent the user from knowing of them.

Really though, what are you doing that causes this, and what OS are you on.

Ive left tpt open for weeks messing with it a bit each day and ive never had an issue

    Yeah that ^.

Once you see that error message, TPT is dead. As a developer you can either make it display that blue error message or let Windows do the Powder.exe has stopped working thing. I think the former is better.

I think it might be possible to panic-dump the simulation on a crash but you can't implement that without making the crash handler prone to errors too. EDIT: lol use jacob1's mod, it already does that.

Just save as you go- first privately, but when you're done, you can edit save details and make it public (assuming you want to)

well can you tell us what error it was?? you should not ask to fix a bug if you dont tell what it was.its like saying doctors should not tell people when they have >insert sickness<.

You are suggesting that we remove the crash handler, and expecting that to fix the crashes. It won't though, it will just cause Windows to handle the crashes instead, which we don't want. Windows doesn't know how to backup your save. With our own crash handler, we have the ability to make a copy of the simulation and restart TPT with it.

We're not actually doing that right now, but my mod does this. If you don't want to lose any work due to a crash, use my mod.

I'll consider adding this feature to official TPT too.

Also, I'd like more info on the crashes. Does it happen when clicking a specific button or using a certain element? I don't get random crashes.

I Played the 2011 tpt for like 3 days and no crashes

but 2018-present tpt crashes after like 10-15 minute.

    nope windows probably doens't crash.

this doens't overheat or take up too much memory.

larger games lag and overheat like cities skylines

i played that once and my gpu was almost at it's limit and it took almost the full memory.

Present TPT doesn't crash that often. If it does, you need to tell me what you are doing to cause it.

Removing the crash handler won't stop TPT from crashing. It will still crash anyway.

You may have bad RAM. Run a memory check. You can find out how to do that online.
