What really happened is that the windows version of 91.5 (and maybe 1-2 versions before that) were compiled with an awful compiler. MSVC just brings it back up to what it used to be :P

I also get just under (and sometimes over) 500 fps in default tpt with double scale mode off, air and gravity off, while paused
Under the same conditions in my mod I get over 400fps. Not sure where the difference is, but it really doesn't matter.

uhhh what supercomputer are you using? I get about 300 FPS on empty screen. I think it might be because you're using WindogeTM, and TPT was compiled with some different compiler which made the executables faster for windows

A supercomputer generally has a ton of CPU cores at a relatively low clock speed. That said, TPT would actually run worse on it than on a good desktop PC.
