    unless you break it, which is the exact opposite of what I want- a compact, working, toggling tractor beam that doesn't make the stuff you're mining fly at hypersonic speeds directly at it.

    Just put on a nuclear reactor and left it unshielded because the pressure keeps stuff from flying out of the box.
