    also, at low temperatures(~0K), hydrogen is a superconductor. coal is made of carbon, which does not form positive ions, so it is not a metal(regardless of the fact that it only forms covalent bonds and not ions). therefore this is not an alloy

    a metal is an element that forms positive ions. this actually makes hydrogen a metal, whic his why it is in group 1 of the periodic table.
